Children Deserve Love, Not Trauma: CEAF’s 3rd School Drive Tells It All.
As the world celebrates Children’s Day, we took our third School Drive Project to Jerare Summit Secondary School, and what we encountered reminded us why our mission is urgent and necessary.
The theme was Sexual Abuse Prevention, but what became painfully clear was that bullying from both peers and teachers was the silent epidemic in this school.
Student after student spoke up, some bitterly, some with trembling voices. They shared how they have been bullied, hit, mocked and humiliated, not just by fellow student, but by the very adults entrusted with their care.
But that was not all. In quiet corners, with voices low and eyes heavy, some girls came forward confessing their fear, fear of blackmail by older boys or men who once “helped” them now threatening them for sex.
They didn’t know how to say no without losing everything. They were scared, confused, and unsure of where safety truly exists.
But we showed up, and we listened, more importantly, we spoke back hope to them. We told them: “Your body is yours, no one has the right to demand it . Saying NO is powerful. Saying NO is your right”. And know that , Silence only protects abusers, speaking up saves lives.
Bullying is abuse. No one, student or teacher should make you feel small.
At CEAF, we’re not just visiting schools, we are building courage, restoring childhood. We are telling every child: “You are not alone, and you will not be silenced”.
This Children’s Day, our message is clear: Let childhood be full of curiosity, not fear, let school be a place of laughter, not bullying.
Let growing up be about dreams, not trauma. We will keep showing up.We’ll keep breaking the silence.Because every child deserves more than survival.
They deserve to thrive.
