Global Gender-Based Violence and Child Marriage: A Growing Crisis

Violence against women and child marriage remain major human rights violations affecting millions worldwide.
Alarming Statistics

According to WHO, 1 in 3 women (35%) globally experience physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime. Child marriage is also rampant, with 650 million women worldwide married as children. Each year, 12 million girls—or 28 girls every minute—are forced into marriage before turning 18.
The Reality in Sub-Saharan Africa and Nigeria

In Sub-Saharan Africa, gender-based violence is widespread. Reports show that in Nigeria, 81% of married women have faced verbal or physical abuse, with 46% suffering it in front of their children, perpetuating a cycle of trauma.
Male Victims of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence isn’t exclusive to women. According to The Guardian UK, over 40% of victims are men, challenging common misconceptions.

A Call to Action

Gender-based violence and child marriage hinder progress and dignity. Governments, organizations, and communities must unite to end these injustices and protect vulnerable individuals. This is a human rights issue that demands urgent action.
