After going on a shooting spree in Thailand and murdering four people, including the bride, the groom shot himself to death during his own wedding ceremony.

The terrible event happened on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at a village in the Wang Nam Khieo district of the Nakhon Ratchasima province of northeastern Thailand.

The Bangkok Post claims that before opting to be married, 29-year-old Chaturong Suksuk, a paralympic athlete and former soldier, lived with 44-year-old Kanchana Pachunthuek for three years.

On Saturday morning there was a traditional wedding ceremony and feast.

But in the middle of the festivities, Suksuk abruptly left the wedding party and came back with a weapon.

“After a disagreement about personal matters, Chaturong went to his car, grabbed a gun, and fired shots,” said Matichon Wongbaokul, a policeman from the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

He opened fire, killing Ms. Kanchana, her 38-year-old sister, and her 62-year-old mother. Two other guests were shot by him and taken to the district hospital.

While one of them passed away, the other suffered severe injuries. The groom immediately passed away after shooting himself. A total of eleven spent 9mm cartridges were found at the shooting location.

The BBC cited a police spokesperson as saying that the groom “was quite intoxicated at the time,” but it’s still unknown why he did it. At present, the police are gathering evidence and conducting an investigation.

Witnesses told the local media that the groom’s fears that his wife would leave him for another man due of his disabilities caused the quarrel.

Suksuk was a swimmer, who won two silver medals in the 2022 ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia and Cambodia.

Local media reported that he was a Thai army ranger, and had lost his right leg while on patrol at the borders.
