The director Violet Avoid, who was born in Zimbabwe, took her own life just one day after turning 33.
According to reports, Violet poisoned her to death with rat poison. This happened two months after she described how being raped at a work function caused her life to spin out of control and take a terrible turn.
Violet revealed to iHarere News that she discovered she had been raped when she woke up the following morning following a wild night of partying. She was upset and confused because she couldn’t figure out who had taken advantage of her when she was inebriated.
She decided not to tell anyone about the upsetting finding, not even her husband, whom she had left at home. As to the article, she chose to take morning-after pills in an attempt to avoid getting pregnant.
When she got home, she didn’t tell her husband about what happened or report the rape. Guilt gripped her, but she carried on with her life. After a while, she started experiencing the telltale signs of pregnancy and took a test to confirm her fears. Startled by this information, she briefly considered blaming her husband for the pregnancy, but that didn’t seem feasible since he hadn’t been home for three months.
Feeling trapped with no viable options, she continued concealing her pregnancy from her husband. However, as time passed, her husband began noticing telltale signs and confronted her. Despite his inquiries, she vehemently denied being pregnant.
The stress took a toll on her health, making her ill. Concerned for her well-being, her husband suggested seeking medical help, but she refused, leading to a heated argument. Matters escalated when her husband’s friend, also her boss, intervened, resulting in a physical altercation. Her husband was seriously injured after her boss knocked him over and he hit his head on the corner of the table leading to him being hospitalised.
After her husband was discharged, her situation worsened when he told her to pack her bags and leave.
With no money or family, life’s challenges weighed heavily on her, ultimately leading her to make the tragic decision to end her life.
