Neglect Or Carelessness?
As a result of neglect and carelessness a child accidently shot himself to death at a caregiver’s house over the weekend, a family in Las Vegas is now in grief.
Around 6:30 p.m., Jaiangelis Stevenson, 2, shot himself in the bedroom of a house close to Nellis Air Force Base. KLAS reported on July 9, a Sunday.
The youngster was taken to University Medical Centre, where doctors declared him dead, according to the outlet.
The event is being looked into by the Metropolitan Police Department in Las Vegas for potential abuse and neglect.
Jaiangelis was being watched by a family member while his mother was working, when the shooting occurred, his aunt Paris Box told 8 News Now.
“We would actually call him ‘Blue’ because of his eyes,” she recalled of the youngster.
“He would be like ‘Hi, Ti Ti’ and he would be walking around with his little popsicle.”
The family is working on accepting what happened,
“A child was shot with someone else’s gun and that is negligence, but don’t know what happened,” she said.
“Because I know everyone’s heart involved, I don’t have hate in my heart, I’m disappointed a little bit, but I know that was not meant to happen.”
When the incident happened, Jaiangelis was being supervised by a family member while his mother was at work, according to his aunt Paris Box, who spoke to 8 News Now.
She remembered about the kid, “We would actually call him ‘Blue’ because of his eyes. He would say, “Hi, Ti Ti,” and he would be carrying a miniature popsicle.

“I don’t have hatred in my heart because I know everyone’s heart involved. I’m a little disappointed, but I know that was not meant to happen.”
Child neglect is a form of child abuse where a caregiver fails to provide the necessary care, supervision, and support for a child’s well-being and development. Neglect can manifest in various ways and severely affect a child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
