Lagos State Government closes the school due to a security guard’s alleged abuse of a 4-year-old girl.

Greater Scholars International School in the state’s Ajah neighbourhood has been closed by the Lagos State Government due to an alleged four-year-old student’s defiance.

On August 16, 2023, the State Ministry of Education closed the institution.

On April 27, 2023, on the pretence of cleaning her up, David James, the school’s security guard, reportedly deflled the student.

The 23-year-old suspect was detained, charged with one count of sexual assault before Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi of Magistrate’s Court 1, Ogba, and then remanded.

Mr. and Mrs. Olusola, the student’s parents, requested that the state government close the school on May 25, 2023.

Concerned individuals carrying signs, including relatives, family members, and representatives of non-governmental groups, stormed the school to demand closure of the institution and justice for the child.

“This means Lagos State Government is working and is willing to do the right thing,” the girl’s father, Mr. Olusola, said in response to the recent event. The fact that justice will be done makes us glad.

The current legal matter, according to Mr. Olusola, will pick back up on September 4, 2023.
