The Katsina State Police Command apprehended a 25-year-old man named Jibrin Yusuf, accused of sexually assaulting and murdering an eight-year-old girl in Kanon-Haki village, Faskari Local Government Area. The suspect was presented on August 17, 2023, by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who revealed that the tragic incident occurred on August 2.
According to ASP Aliyu, the case involves Hassan Jibrin, the victim’s father, who had employed the suspect to transport fertilizer between his farms. While the father was occupied with laborers, the victim was assigned to guard the fertilizer at one of the farms. Exploiting this opportunity, the accused forcibly took the young girl to a nearby farm where he committed the heinous acts of rape and murder. He then concealed the victim’s body on another farmland, disguising it with leaves, and stole three bags of fertilizer before fleeing the scene.
The law enforcement officers acted swiftly upon receiving the report, apprehending the suspect. During the ensuing investigation, the accused reportedly confessed to the charges of rape and theft, and the stolen fertilizer was also recovered.
