We are actively working to eliminate gender-based violence (GBV) and domestic violence through targeted actions, advocacy, and community engagement. These efforts are rooted in my commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive society where everyone can thrive free from fear and harm. Here’s how we are contributing to this critical cause:
Creating Awareness and Education
we organize awareness campaigns and educational programs in schools, communities, and workplaces to shed light on the impact of GBV and domestic violence. Through our NGO, Comfort Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation (CEAF), we deliver interactive sessions to educate people about the forms of abuse, early warning signs, and prevention strategies. For example, we recently conducted an awareness session in schools to empower children and teenagers with knowledge about sexual abuse prevention.
Providing Safe Spaces for Survivors
We are in the process of building a safe house for survivors of abuse. This safe house will serve as a secure haven where victims can heal emotionally, receive counseling, and rebuild their lives in a supportive environment.
Partnering with Key Organizations
Collaborating with organizations like Headfort Foundation for Justice, we ensure survivors have access to legal aid when needed. Partnerships with legal and healthcare professionals strengthen our ability to offer holistic support to those affected by violence.
Promoting Empowerment and Economic Independence
Recognizing that economic dependence often traps individuals in abusive relationships, we empower women and vulnerable groups with vocational training, skill development, and financial literacy programs. This empowerment fosters independence and reduces vulnerability to abuse.
Encouraging Community Involvement
We actively involve community members in conversations about GBV and domestic violence, encouraging them to take a stand against these issues. Through dialogue and collaboration, we aim to challenge harmful cultural norms and practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation.
Leveraging Social Media and Technology
Using platforms like WhatsApp and social media, we disseminate educational content, host discussions, and run campaigns to raise awareness about gender-based violence. These digital tools allow me to reach a broader audience and mobilize collective action.
Advocating for Policy Change
We advocate for stronger laws and policies to protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable. By engaging with policymakers and stakeholders, we push for reforms that address systemic issues contributing to GBV and domestic violence.
Through these initiatives, we are striving to make a tangible difference in the fight against gender-based violence and domestic violence. While the journey is challenging, every step taken contributes to breaking the cycle of violence and building a society rooted in respect, equality, and justice.
