Rofiat Okewola, 33, was murdered by her husband in Ogun State.
After she confronted him about having an extramarital affair.
According to earlier reports, the husband, a mechanic from Lagos, banged his wife’s head against the wall after a dispute over upkeep funds.
However, The Nation claims that the deceased, a tailor, was indignant when she discovered her husband having sex with a lady in an apartment on 6 August 2023 in the Owode neighbourhood of Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
The mother of two had hurriedly exited her store on Bosun Adeyemi Street in the Adalemo neighbourhood of Lagos State and hurried home to confront her husband and the strange woman, but she did not survive.
According to the findings, when Rofiat confronted her husband and his lover, who fled right away, he took her outside the love nest and, in a fit of rage, slammed her head against the wall at the back of the structure.
An enraged throng surrounded the troubled spouse, a mechanic who works in Lagos State’s Abule Egba neighbourhood, as he tried to flee. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Sango-Ota Divisional Headquarters then ordered his removal.
He might have simply sent his wife on her way instead of killing her, the enraged mob emphasised as they denounced his actions.
Why didn’t you get the woman to the hospital after you beat her till she passed out? The culprit babbled his regrets but was unable to provide an explanation.
According to Biola nicknamed Dasol, one of the deceased’s friends: “Rofiat was the main whip of the tailors association in this neighbourhood. Additionally, she was in charge of organising the association’s next celebration. I was supposed to go to the market with her to get some supplies for the party last week.
On the day of the incident, at around noon, I chatted with her on the phone. Unexpectedly, I was at a party when I received a phone call informing me of her passing from the head of the tailors union in Adalemo.
